Fascinations Beyond KL City

The adventurous visitor may also explore more diverse alluring spots beyond the KL city by driving or joining a sightseeing tour group. Half an hour’s drive from the city is Templer’s Park, a popular green lung with waterfalls and jungle trails.
 
Perched on the mountain, Genting Highlands Resort (picture, left) offers fund and excitement amid cool surroundings. Further northwards of KL city is the tranquil setting of Fraser’s Hill which forms an ideal retreat for weary travellers.
 
The Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) will give an insight into the nation’s tropical forests and related products. The country’s agricultural activities displayed in natural surroundings can be seen at the Malaysia Agriculture Park at Shah Alam.
 
Sun lovers looking for their own place under the bright blue sky should head for the 18km long coastline at Port Dickson.
 
Melaka, two hours’ drive from KL, is an intriguing destination which was the seat of a once great Malay empire and subsequently ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch and British.
